Training and public debate on personal data protection in Novi Pazar
Capacity building training and panel discussion on the topic of monitoring the implementation of the new Personal Data Protection Act were organized in Novi Pazar, attended by data protection officers, representatives of civil society organizations and the media. Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Protection of Personal Data Milan Marinović, Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković, as well as representatives of the Commissioner's Office, along with representatives of GIZ and Jukom, participated in the panel discussion. The goal of the training and panel discussion was to clarify the provisions and review the application of the new Personal Data Protection Act, as well as consider the possibilities for its better application.
The frequent challenges faced by personal data handlers, but also global challenges in the form of the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the processing of personal data, the potential use of cameras for biometric facial recognition, dominated the public debate.
Training and public debates, which are being implemented as part of the project support in the following period in 15 selected local self-government units, are particularly important for raising public awareness. Activities are supported of the multi-donor “Facility Supporting Strengthening Rule of Law in the Republic of Serbia" (EU FOR FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION AND FOR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS) co-financed by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
