Delegation of the Republic of South Africa visiting Belgrade

The Ministry of Justice and the Higher Court in Belgrade hosted a delegation of the Republic of South Africa, comprised of representatives of the Public Service Commission, Ministry of Justice, Ethics Institute (TEI), National Anticorruption Advisory Council (NCAC), Protector of Citizens, and the non-governmental organizations Corruption Watch and The Whistleblower House.

In a conversation with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice Ms. Bojana Šćepanović and judge of the Higher Court in Belgrade Ms. Bojana Čogurić, members of the delegation were acquainted with the practical aspects of the application of the Law on the Protection of Whistleblowers, with the focus on the importance and effectiveness of temporary measure. The South Africa’s delegation was also acquainted with the Resolution on the Protection of Whistleblowers, which, at the proposal of the Republic of Serbia, was adopted at the Tenth Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, held in Atlanta in December 2023. On that occasion, the members of the delegation were presented with the most important activities of the Ministry of Justice in the field of fighting corruption.

The visit was organized as part of the “Facility Supporting Strengthening Rule of Law in Serbia", which is jointly financed by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) - the EU for the fight against corruption and for fundamental rights - and is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), in cooperation with the GIZ Program for Transparency, Integrity and Accountability (TIP) of the Republic of South Africa.
